Climbing and mountaineering
Enthusiastic local fans committed themselves thoroughly to open numerous climbing walls and beautiful ways in prestigious areas such as Pain de Sucre, Séolanes, Saint-Ours or Méclans (climbing wall) 3km from Rioclar.

Chaudon, 3 minutes from the campsite Rioclar, on the right after la Fresquière, at 1,5 km from the junction you’ll find a parking lot and an information board very close to the 100 ways, from 4 to 8b which are dispatched from the area.

Commune of St-Paul-sur-Ubaye, after Serenne on the way to Maljasset, South east side, 29 ways from 2 to 6c+. Climbing level 5c and autonomy required for this climbing.

Access: At St-Paul-sur-Ubaye direction Fouillouse, after the village take a path direction Chambeyron mountain hut (2 h 30) then follow the path of the Lake des 9 couleurs (1 h 15). Some difficulties, level difference 765 m from the hut, recommended in July and August, and September.
Access: on the road of Larche shortly after Meyronnes take the direction of the village of St-Ours. Follow then the path to the pass Vallonnet, after the shepherd hut go directly towards the peak: 2 TD ways and + de 300 m, the way on the west side is classified trad-climbing .
Access: Stop in Maljasset (end of the asphalt road) and from there follow the path direction Mary pass (1 h 30 to 2 h) to the foot of the peak. Normal way 80 m, North West exposure, easy, climbing school for the army. 6 other ways, 200 m level D+ to TD.
At the campsite reception, you will find some information and topo-guides of the valley. The guides’ office in downtown Barcelonnette will provide you with all the necessary information with pleasure.
